The targeted date for reopening the crossing to vehicles was Monday, August 21st. However, contractor limitations and restrictions regarding working around the BNSF railway have resulted in a revised reopening target date of Monday, August 28, 2023.
Pedestrian crossings on both the east and west sides of the Brainard Avenue railroad crossing will remain open throughout the work. Motorists are encouraged to follow detour signage and use the Kensington or Ashland Avenue crossings as alternatives to the Brainard crossing.
Overall, this construction project to replace the aging water main on Brainard Avenue is on schedule, with contractors installing an average of 100 feet of watermain per day. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is estimated to be October 31, 2023.
