#D102StudentSpotlight Exciting news! The Science Center received an $877 grant from the Toshiba America Foundation to enhance our 1st grade "Water and the Environment" unit.
Last month, all District 102 1st graders came to the Science Center to learn 1) how water and soil pollution affect animals and our watershed; 2) observe microscopic organisms from a variety of water samples (including from our garden pond!); 3) clean-up a mini oil spill; and 4) engineer ways to filter "dirty" water using everyday materials.
Thanks to this grant, students tackled real-world water challenges at the Science Center!
