Looking for a local adventure that blends science, sustainability, and the beauty of nature? Join us for the 2025 La Grange Area Native Plant Tour on Sunday, July 27 from 12–4 p.m. and explore over a dozen homegrown gardens that celebrate Illinois’ native plants—and support our pollinators in the process!
This free, self-guided tour invites community members of all ages to visit local gardens filled with native perennials, grasses, and wildflowers. From bee baths to rain gardens and butterfly waystations, you’ll be inspired by the creativity and care our neighbors have poured into their outdoor spaces.
🌿 D102 is proud to be part of the tour!
One of the stops includes the District 102 Science Center at 938 N Barnsdale Road, where our very own 3rd–6th grade students help maintain a thriving native plant garden, vegetable beds, and a beautiful butterfly-shaped garden complete with a waterfall and pond. This space was transformed with the help of a Schoolyard Habitat Action Grant and continues to serve as a hands-on learning environment for our students—demonstrating what happens when education and environmental stewardship come together.
Whether you're curious about starting your own native garden, looking for a meaningful weekend outing, or simply want to support our students' work, this event is for you.
