Congratulations to Congress Park School on receiving the Julia Rappaport Growing Gardeners Fund Grant from the American Horticultural Society! Thanks to this grant, Kristine Carbray and Aaron Dembowski are working with students in grades 3-6 to learn about the importance of pollinators and the benefits of planting native plants. Students gathered supplies to begin winter sowing some milkweed varieties, blazing star, and purple echinacea, to create habitats to support monarch butterflies and other pollinators.
This hands-on project connects directly to our Dual Language Program themes of cross-cultural understanding and the geography of the Americas. Students will learn about butterfly life cycles and migration patterns while gaining meaningful experiences in nature.
