It is with excitement that I introduce myself as the new interim assistant principal at Forest Road Elementary School. I’ve been part of District 102 for the past 17 years, working as a social worker at Congress Park, Barnsdale, and Forest Road. While stepping into a new role is a change for me, I am looking forward to working with students, staff, and families in a different capacity.
My experience as a social worker has given me skills that I know will be valuable in this role. I have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with students and families, help students advocate for themselves and their needs, and work alongside teachers and staff to develop strategies that support students academically, socially, and behaviorally. I look forward to using those skills in my new role while continuing to support our students, families, and staff.
I am looking forward to bringing my perspective as a mental health professional to the administrative team. Supporting students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs has always been an important part of my work, and I hope to continue supporting our staff as they work with students. I also look forward to learning more about the systems and procedures already in place at Forest Road and finding ways to support and build on the work that is already happening in our school.
Many Forest Road families may already know me, but I thought I would share a little more about myself. My husband and I had a busy summer filled with museum visits, road trips, and lots of time outside on our new deck. I also love hosting board game nights and, most importantly, spoiling my six-month-old niece and two cats.
I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to continue and expand my career at Forest Road. I truly love being part of this school community and am incredibly grateful for the chance to take on this new role. I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and support our students, families, and staff.
Looking forward to a great school year!
