Dear parents and guardians,
We want to inform you that the isolation and quarantine period for students and staff members sick with COVID-19 or considered a close contact has been reduced to five days.
Today, the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois State Board of Education announced they have adopted CDC guidance for P-12 schools that reduces the isolation and quarantine period. The Centers for Disease Control updated its guidance for P-12 schools on January 6.
As a result, effective immediately, La Grange School District 102 will implement the updated guidance. We have contact staff, students, and families who are currently impacted by a quarantine with a revised return to school plan.
Once students and staff are fever-free and symptom-free they must return to school wearing a clean, non-cloth, mask for the five days following their return to school. Students who are unable to consistently wear a mask will follow the 10-day quarantine guidelines. Three-ply surgical masks are a minimum requirement, and N95, KN95, or similar form-fitting masks are preferred. In addition, students and staff who return to school after five days can either go home for lunch if practical, or we will ensure students are seated six feet from peers for five days upon their return to school.
