bookdrive

La Grange D102 will be hosting a children’s book drive to benefit Bernie’s Book Bank.

Bernie’s Book Bank, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, is the leading provider of quality books to at-risk children in the Chicagoland area. Since 2009 they have distributed more than 21 million books. They strive to provide books that children can be proud to have in their home library.

We ask that you consider donating new and gently used children’s books (birth-6th grade reading level) during our book drive. Children’s picture books, board books, recent non-fiction and chapter books are all appreciated. Please note, Bernie’s Book Bank does not accept activity books, coloring books, dictionaries, textbooks, religious books or foreign language books other than Spanish.

Your donated books will be given new homes with children who need them. When books arrive at Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff they are sorted, stickered and packed by volunteers. Then the books are loaded onto a fleet of trucks and carefully delivered to 300,000 underserved children through 900+ distribution partners in six Chicagoland counties.

Owning quality books is critical to reading-readiness and becoming a proficient reader. Your valuable support for Bernie’s Book Bank enables these children to build a home library of quality books so they can read their way to a better life.

Please help us achieve our goal by donating gently used children’s books (birth-6th grade). Books can be placed in the collection bins located at the main office foyer of each school starting October 17 until our drive ends on October 28.
